SITUATION
An off-shore Asian based start-up needed a well known and accomplished CEO to establish a U.S.
presence and jumpstart the company.
BACKGROUND
The position demanded expertise in fund development as well as the ability to make public appearances
and be known as a leading authority and spokesperson introducing and making the business case for the
company’s products and services.
ISSUES RESOLVED

After contacting more than 100 sources and potential candidates, Green EcoSearch identified an outstanding,
high profile professional with a track record of building companies with significant revenue run rates,
orchestrating successful IPO’s and liquidity events.
OUTCOMES
That person, who already held a personal passion for the industry, brought in a team that established the finance,
sales, marketing, and business development teams in the company's Silicon Valley headquarters simultaneous
with managing the development organization in Asia. His capabilities and experience were a perfect fit, and the
search was successfully concluded.
New CEO Placed at Highly Respected, Well Known Regional Print & Electronic Media Company
SITUATION
Several preceding CEO’s had created unpredictable revenue and expense management problems with accompanying
employee morale and high turnover issues.
BACKGROUND
All aspects of the position requirements were assessed, including needs that had not been previously dealt with
properly. Green EcoSearch evaluated an internal slate of four candidates all of whom were eventually disqualified
by the internal search committee based on the criteria specified in the position description.
ISSUES RESOLVED
With the concurrence of the Chairman , Green EcoSearch's guidance helped the organization develop an executive
succession plan that resulted in a significantly changed the organization blueprint. Based on the new position
description, which clearly defined the search objectives for the new CEO, the organization was put back on a fast
track for growth.
PROCEDURES EMPLOYED
During the front-end interviews with organization's leadership, executives and middle management were asked to
identify all the competitors they would rate as "superior" in their field as well as the specific functions they required.
A considerable list of "superior" organizations with excellent operational excellence was developed.
OUTCOMES
Within two months after the internal candidates were eliminated from consideration, extensive sourcing and
recruitment produced a short list of three candidates who were presented for interviews. Two were identified from
competitors with the third candidate coming from outside the industry. The top executive was persuaded that the
opportunity would present him with a personal challenge, a solid career opportunity and a challenge to grow a family
owned business into a major player in the media industry. The successful candidate relocated from an out-of-state o
rganization well known nationally for its excellence in business operations. He is an impact player that made major
changes in the organization taking it to a new level of sucess and profitability.
